Sophia Antipolis (France), October 6, 2009.Open-Plug announces the availability of ELIPS Studio 3 beta release. ELIPS Studio 3 is an SDK for mobile applications integrated with Adobe Flex builder. With ELIPS Studio, developers can develop mobile applications like web applications and deploy them on the most popular platforms and app stores in record time. The beta release will be available to the members of Open-Plug’s Early Developers Program, a program opened to a limited number of people, allowing its members, for a limited period of time, to download and use the SDK for free. Open-Plug’s product marketing director, Guilhem Ensuque, will be presenting and demonstrating this product at Adobe MAX today on Windows Mobile, Symbian and iPhone, you can download the presentation here. Until now, application developers needed in-depth expertise in mobile application development if they wanted to address a global market of over 4 billion phone users. And they had to understand and manage the differences between not only every operating system, but also between the individual models from each manufacturer. ELIPS Studio 3 cuts through the complexity of mobile application development. With ELIPS Studio, mobile applications are developed with the same environment as PC web applications. The current version of ELIPS Studio 3 is available as a plug-in for Adobe Flex / Flash Builder, a popular IDE for the development of RIAs and RDAs using the high level ActionScript and MXML languages. This means there is no need to learn new languages or adopt new tools. Plus the same code base can be used for PC and mobiles, so any RIA company can now extend its business to the rapidly growing mobile application market and re-use its existing assets. "The availability of ELIPS Studio 3 to our early adopters is a key milestones for us", said Eric Baissus, CEO of Open-Plug. "Open-Plug has a long track-record of creating optimized code for cellular handsets. But with ELIPS Studio 3, we not only address our traditional customer base, such as large handset makers, but also any developer who intends to transform an idea into a real mobile application." The product comes with a highly optimized Flex-based Mobile Framework, a sophisticated mobile simulator, a compiler which automatically generates, optimizes and packages the mobile applications into the native format of the targeted platform and app store, and a variant manager for easy management of the handset fragmentation. The first platforms to be supported by ELIPS Studio 3 are Symbian and Windows Mobile. iPhone will be available in November, Android before the end of the year. Other systems, including proprietary mass-market devices that run Real-Time operating systems (RTOS), will closely follow.
