Open-Plug's ELIPS product family allows easy and open cooperation between the different members of the wireless terminal value chain from application developers through chipset/platform makers to the mobile network operators.

Application software developers are a key actor in the terminal development chain providing the core value of today's and tomorrow's mobile phone applications and operator service packages. The ELIPS partner program for the first time allows application developers to access mass-market platforms easily. Up to now, they have been far beyond reach due to their proprietary development environments. By simplifying the cooperation between different players in the market, Open-Plug aims to create synergies between partners and customers and accelerate the deployment of new services and applications.

Within the partner program, application developers are given access to the ELIPS-SDK, a highly efficient development/validation and demonstration environment. ELIPS exposes standard POSIX/Linux® services allowing standard Linux® compatible application development, integration and demonstration. Software applications/components developed with the ELIPS-SDK are immediately ready to run on the ELIPS Run Time System (RTS). The ELIPS-RTS is today integrated on the major chipset platforms, providing immediate access to numerous target customers.

A wide range of open-source applications have been made available for ELIPS, allowing application developers to re-use many of the core functions like codec, compression algorithms, etc.

In addition Open-Plug is continuously extending the promotion activities for applications developed by partner program members, and available in the ELIPS environment. This facilitates synergies between application developers, platform/handset makers and the mobile network operators to enable quicker and easier deployment of new services and application concepts.
